How We Met
Kevin, a born-and-raised Portland native was enjoying life in the city when Sal made the cross-country journey to his new home in January 2017. Sal was getting used to his new career and trying to make friends in a new city when he met another transplant from the East coast. It just so happened Sal’s new friend had recently met Kevin, too! The more Sal learned about Kev, the more he knew he wanted to meet him. So he asked for Kevin’s number and, with Kevin’s permission and a brief introduction from their friend, Sal sent Kevin a brief, life-changing text message:
“Afternoon Kevin. Salvatore here!”
Easy from the start
When we met for the first time, there was no awkward small talk or uncomfortable “getting to know you” jitters. It was almost too easy for us to chat, connect, and laugh as we learned about each other for several hours at a local tavern near Kevin’s apartment. You see, Kevin wasn’t sure how the date would go, so he wanted to be close to home. Luckily for Sal, Kevin never left, and we spent nearly 5 hours together that first date. It was evident for both of us that this was something special, and we knew we wanted to see each other again!

Fun & Travels
Over the last 5+ years we have been lucky enough to have more than our fair share of adventures together! Some of Sal’s favorite memories are: bringing Kev to Florida for the first time (and many, many times since!), learning how to ski with Kev, and making amazing new friends together! Kevin has enjoyed experiencing new things with Sal, whether it be road tripping to Montana or spending New Year’s in Vancouver, BC, or taking on challenges together like backpacking or home renovations!
Engagement
Our engagement weekend was spent up in the mountains, in an old decommissioned fire lookout. The 3.5 hr hike in the mountains (in the snow and in the dark) were quite memorable, but leaving as an engaged couple will be something the two of us never forget.
